The commercial artificial olive tree has become the defining statement plant of the decade — and for good reason. Hotels, upscale restaurants, corporate headquarters, and retail flagships across North America, Europe, and the Middle East specify artificial olive trees above every other species. Their silvery-green foliage, gnarled trunks, and Mediterranean character communicate warmth and sophistication without the maintenance burden of a living plant. Unlike a real olive tree, a commercial-grade artificial olive tree never drops leaves onto polished floors, never requires irrigation systems, and never wilts under the stress of an HVAC draft or low-light interior.
Not all artificial olive tree foliage is equal. PVC leaves are flat, shiny, and obviously synthetic up close — acceptable for budget residential use but immediately visible as fake in a high-end commercial environment. LaySun's commercial artificial olive trees use PE (polyethylene) foliage moulded directly from botanical specimens. Each leaf captures the characteristic dusty silver-green underside and slight curl of a genuine olive leaf. When lit by warm hospitality lighting at 3–4 metres away, PE olive foliage is indistinguishable from the real thing. The PE compound also incorporates fire-retardant additives at the manufacturing stage — not surface-sprayed — so the fire certification remains valid for the life of the product.
Trunk selection is as important as foliage quality in a commercial artificial olive tree. LaySun offers four primary trunk constructions: the real natural wood trunk (harvested, treated, and affixed to the steel armature) for the most organic appearance; the old stump thick trunk style for a dramatic, aged Mediterranean look suited to luxury hotel lobbies; the straight black trunk for contemporary minimalist restaurants and corporate offices; and the white pot presentation that integrates with modern interior design schemes. For large commercial atriums requiring trees above 8 ft, the wide canopy and large tree head options provide the visual volume needed to fill double-height spaces. The 9 ft and 10 ft large tree variants are frequently specified for hotel check-in lobbies, airport lounges, and shopping centre anchor points.
NFPA 701 (National Fire Protection Association 701) fire-rated options are available as a special order for select products. Testing is performed by an independent laboratory accepted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in the Textiles and Films category. Documentation is available upon request and is provided for the project or order. Requirements for artificial plants vary by jurisdiction and application. For eligible special-order olive trees, the specified material construction, testing, and documentation are confirmed for the project or order. Customisation options include custom pot finishes, bespoke trunk heights, specific canopy diameter requirements, and multi-tree configurations for corridors and planted zones. All custom specifications are accommodated at the factory with a typical lead time of 30–45 days.
